HAWLEY -- read once and referred to the Committee on Corpo- rations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT to amend the public service law, in relation to limiting the amount of surcharge which may be charged by a gas or electric company THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 65 of the public service law is amended by adding a new subdivision 7-a to read as follows: 7-A. NO GAS CORPORATION, ELECTRIC CORPORATION OR GAS AND ELECTRIC CORPORATION MAY IMPOSE A SURCHARGE OF GREATER THAN FIVE PERCENT OF THE CHARGE FOR BASIC SERVICE. S 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD08123-01-5
