AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring all insti-
tutions, faculty and staff of the state university and city university
which provide a store selling textbooks information on required text-
book and course materials to be used in courses of study to provide
the same information to any other store selling textbooks which
requests it; and to amend chapter 219 of the laws of 2003 amending the
education law relating to publishers or manufacturers providing print-
ed instructional materials for college students with disabilities, in
relation to eliminating the expiration and repeal of certain
provisions thereof
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 716 to
read as follows:
S 716. INFORMATION RELATING TO TEXTBOOKS. ANY INSTITUTION, FACULTY OR
STAFF OF THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK OR THE CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW
YORK WHICH PROVIDES ANY INFORMATION CONCERNING REQUIRED AND OPTIONAL
TEXTBOOKS, REQUIRED ACADEMIC LEARNING MATERIALS, OR REQUIRED CUSTOM
PUBLICATIONS TO ANY STORE SELLING TEXTBOOKS SHALL, UPON REQUEST AND IN A
TIMELY MANNER, MAKE AVAILABLE THE SAME INFORMATION TO ANY OTHER STORE
SELLING TEXTBOOKS.
S 2. Section 2 of chapter 219 of the laws of 2003 amending the educa-
tion law relating to publishers or manufacturers providing printed
instructional materials for college students with disabilities, as
amended by chapter 194 of the laws of 2013, is amended to read as
follows:

S 2. This act shall take effect August 15, 2004 and SECTION 715 OF THE
EDUCATION LAW, AS ADDED BY SECTION ONE OF THIS ACT, shall expire and be
deemed repealed 12 years after such effective date.
S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
