  troller) -- read once and referred to the Committee on  Local  Govern-
  ments

AN  ACT  to amend the general municipal law, in relation to conflicts of
  interest of municipal officers and  employees,  codes  of  ethics  and
  boards  of  ethics;  to amend chapter 946 of the laws of 1964 amending
  the general municipal law and other  laws  relating  to  conflicts  of
  interest  of  municipal officers and employees, in relation to permit-
  ting local codes of ethics to prohibit activities expressly  permitted
  by article 18 of the general municipal law

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 800 of the general municipal  law,
as  amended  by  chapter 1043 of the laws of 1965, is amended to read as
follows:
  3. "Interest" means a direct or indirect pecuniary or material benefit
accruing to a municipal officer or employee, OR HIS OR  HER  SPOUSE,  as
the  result  of  a  contract with the municipality which such officer or
employee serves. For the purposes of this article a municipal officer or
employee shall be deemed to have an interest in the contract of (a)  his
OR  HER  spouse,  minor  children  and  dependents, except a contract of
employment with the municipality which such officer or employee  serves,
(b)  a  firm,  partnership  or  association  of  which  such  officer or
employee, OR HIS OR HER SPOUSE, is a member or employee,  (c)  a  corpo-
ration  of  which  such officer or employee, OR HIS OR HER SPOUSE, is an
officer, director or employee and (d) a corporation any stock  of  which
is owned or controlled directly or indirectly by such officer or employ-
ee, OR HIS OR HER SPOUSE.
  S  2.  Section 801 of the general municipal law, as amended by chapter
1043 of the laws of 1965, is amended to read as follows:

  boards of ethics; to amend chapter 946 of the laws  of  1964  amending
  the  general  municipal  law  and  other laws relating to conflicts of
  interest of municipal officers and employees, in relation  to  permit-
  ting  local codes of ethics to prohibit activities expressly permitted
  by article 18 of the general municipal law
