BARCLAY, OAKS -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT extending the time within which certain elected officers may file their oaths of office THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any law, rule, or regulation to the contra- ry, any duly elected county officer or officers within the county of Oswego as of the last county-wide election that failed to take or file their respective oaths of office within the statutorily prescribed peri- od shall continue to serve in such capacity and for the term from Janu- ary 1, 2016 through December 31, 2017 upon the taking and filing of oaths of office consistent with section 10 of the public officers law provided such oaths are taken within 30 days from the effective date of this act. Such county officer or officers that take and file their oaths of office within 30 days of the effective date of this act shall be deemed to have been continuously serving in office as of January 1, 2016. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD14765-01-6

BARCLAY, OAKS -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said commit- tee AN ACT relating to extending the time within which certain elected offi- cers may file their oaths of office THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any other law, rule, or regulation to the contrary, any duly elected county legislator within the county of Oswego that failed to take or file their respective oaths of office within the statutorily prescribed period subsequent to the last county-wide election shall continue to serve in such capacity and for the term from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2017 upon the taking and filing of oaths of office consistent with section 402 of the county law, provided such oaths are taken within 30 days of the effective date of this act. Such county legislators that take and file their oaths of office within 30 days of the effective date of this act shall be deemed to have been continuously serving in office since January 1, 2016.
