AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the review  of  licen-
  sure standards for architecture and landscape architecture

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new  section  7309
to read as follows:
  S 7309. REVIEW OF LICENSURE STANDARDS. THE DEPARTMENT, IN CONSULTATION
WITH THE STATE BOARD FOR ARCHITECTURE, SHALL CONDUCT PERIODIC REVIEWS OF
THE  EXISTING  STANDARDS  FOR  LICENSURE  TO DETERMINE IF SUCH STANDARDS
SHOULD BE UPDATED TO REFLECT CHANGES TO THE PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION  OF
ARCHITECTS.  THE  DEPARTMENT SHALL SUBMIT A REPORT WITH ITS FINDINGS AND
RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE LEGISLATURE AND THE GOVERNOR BEGINNING  ON  APRIL
FIRST, TWO THOUSAND SEVENTEEN, AND EVERY FIVE YEARS THEREAFTER.
  S 2. The education law is amended by adding a new section 7329 to read
as follows:
  S 7329. REVIEW OF LICENSURE STANDARDS. THE DEPARTMENT, IN CONSULTATION
WITH  THE STATE BOARD FOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE, SHALL CONDUCT PERIODIC
REVIEWS OF THE EXISTING STANDARDS FOR LICENSURE  TO  DETERMINE  IF  SUCH
STANDARDS SHOULD BE UPDATED TO REFLECT CHANGES TO THE PROFESSIONAL PREP-
ARATION  OF  LANDSCAPE  ARCHITECTS. THE DEPARTMENT SHALL SUBMIT A REPORT
WITH ITS FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE LEGISLATURE AND THE  GOVER-
NOR  BEGINNING  ON  APRIL  FIRST, TWO THOUSAND SEVENTEEN, AND EVERY FIVE

  S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
