BILL NUMBER: S6358 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the education law, in relation to the location of service centers for independent living PURPOSE : To allow the Suffolk Independent Living Organization (SILO) to operate its service center anywhere within Suffolk County. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1. This bill amends subdivision 3 of section 1124 of the education law to expand the location an independent living service center in permitted to operate to anywhere within Suffolk County. Section 2. BOYLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the location of service centers for independent living THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 1124 of the education law, as amended by chapter 939 of the laws of 1986, is amended to read as follows: 3. Service centers shall be located in the cities of Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, White Plains, Binghamton, Kingston, Pough- keepsie, Jamestown, Yonkers, the counties of Queens, Kings, Nassau, Bronx, Richmond [and], New York and [the township of Brookhaven with a satellite center in Central Islip in the county of] Suffolk. S 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
