BILL NUMBER: S6799 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the local finance law, in relation to authorizing the town of Hempstead, county of Nassau, to amortize the cost of payments to employees upon separation of service from the town PURPOSE : To allow the Town of Hempstead to amortize the cost of payments to employees upon separation of service from the town. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section one adds a new subdivision 108 to Local Finance Law § 11.00(a) to authorize the Town of Hempstead, as approved by the Town, to amortize accrued and accumulated but unused and unpaid sick leave, holiday leave, vacation time, time allowances granted in lieu of overtime compensation and other form of payment for time earned by employees of the Town of Hempstead, payable to such employees upon separation of service from the Town. Section two provides that this act take effect immediately. JUSTIFICATION :

HANNON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance AN ACT to amend the local finance law, in relation to authorizing the town of Hempstead, county of Nassau, to amortize the cost of payments to employees upon separation of service from the town THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph a of section 11.00 of the local finance law is amended by adding a new subdivision 108 to read as follows: 108. PAYMENTS BY THE TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD, COUNTY OF NASSAU, TO EMPLOYEES UPON SEPARATION FROM EMPLOYMENT, AS MAY BE APPROVED BY THE TOWN AND INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, SUCH PAYMENTS, CASH PAYMENT FOR SEPA- RATION INCENTIVES AND/OR PAYMENT OF THE MONETARY VALUE OF ACCRUED AND ACCUMULATED BUT UNUSED AND UNPAID SICK LEAVE, VACATION TIME, AND ANY OTHER FORMS OF PAYMENT REQUIRED TO BE PAID TO SUCH EMPLOYEES UPON SEPA- RATION FROM EMPLOYMENT, TEN YEARS.
