BILL NUMBER: S6963 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the elder law, in relation to congregate services initiative for the elderly PURPOSE : To provide financial literacy services to the elderly. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1. Subparagraphs 9 and 10 of paragraph (d) of subdivision 1 of 2 section 217 of the elder law are amended and a new subparagraph 11 is 3 added to read as follows: 4 (9) Employment services information; (and) 5 (10) Health promotion and disease prevention services and 6 (11) Financial literacy. EXISTING LAW : New JUSTIFICATION : Financial literacy is an important tool that can assist in preventing seniors from being victimized. PERSAUD -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Aging AN ACT to amend the elder law, in relation to congregate services initi- ative for the elderly THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subparagraphs 9 and 10 of paragraph (d) of subdivision 1 of section 217 of the elder law are amended and a new subparagraph 11 is added to read as follows: (9) Employment services information; [and] (10) Health promotion and disease prevention services[.]; AND (11) FINANCIAL LITERACY.
