BILL NUMBER: S7943 TITLE OF BILL : An act to authorize the town of Brookhaven to extend the boundaries of the Setauket fire district to include the village of Old Field PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL : To extend the Setauket fire district boundaries to include the village of Old Field. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : The Suffolk Town Board is authorized, in accordance with subdivision 2 of section 170 of town law, to extend the Setauket fire district to include the village of Old Field. Such fire district and town board shall be subject to the provisions of article 11 of the town law. JUSTIFICATION : The Town of Brookhaven will extend the Setauket fire district boundaries to serve the village of Old Field. The Setauket fire district will include Old Field in its entirety for the purposes of providing fire protection and emergency response.

FLANAGAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government AN ACT to authorize the town of Brookhaven to extend the boundaries of the Setauket fire district to include the village of Old Field THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of article 11 of the town law to the contrary, upon the expiration of the contract between the village of Old Field, in the county of Suffolk, and the Setauket fire district, providing for fire protection and emergency response by such fire district within such village, the town board of the town of Brookhaven is authorized, in accordance with the provisions of subdivision 2 of section 170 of the town law, to extend the boundaries of the Setauket fire district to include the village of Old Field in its entirety for the purposes of providing fire protection and emergency response within such village. S 2. Upon the extension by the town board of the town of Brookhaven of the Setauket fire district to include the village of Old Field, in accordance with section one of this act, such fire district and town board shall be subject to the provisions of article 11 of the town law, and shall continue to have all powers, duties and responsibilities vest- ed in and imposed upon such districts and towns pursuant to such arti- cle, and the rules and regulations adopted pursuant thereto.
