 AN ACT to amend the state finance law and the executive law, in relation
   to enacting the "American made flag act of 2017"
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as  the  "American
 made flag act of 2017".
   §  2.  Section 165 of the state finance law is amended by adding a new
 subdivision 9 to read as follows:
   9. FLAGS. ONLY FLAGS, REGARDLESS OF SIZE, THAT ARE ONE HUNDRED PERCENT
 MANUFACTURED  IN  THE  UNITED  STATES,  FROM  ARTICLES,  MATERIALS,   OR
 SUPPLIES,  ONE  HUNDRED PERCENT OF WHICH ARE GROWN, PRODUCED OR MANUFAC-
 TURED IN THE UNITED STATES, MAY  BE  PURCHASED  FOR  USE  BY  THE  STATE
 GOVERNMENT.  FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS SUBDIVISION, THE TERM "FLAG" SHALL
 HAVE THE SAME MEANING AS PROVIDED IN SUBDIVISION  ONE  OF  SECTION  FOUR
 HUNDRED ONE OF THE EXECUTIVE LAW.
   §  3.  Section  403  of  the  executive law is amended by adding a new
 subdivision 22 to read as follows:
   22. ALL FLAGS PURCHASED AND DISPLAYED AT ANY PUBLIC BUILDING SHALL  BE
 MADE IN THE UNITED STATES FROM AMERICAN MATERIALS, AS PROVIDED IN SUBDI-
 VISION NINE OF SECTION ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-FIVE OF THE STATE FINANCE LAW.
   § 4. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
 it shall have become a law.

                       [ ] is old law to be omitted.
