BILL NUMBER: S4244 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the executive law, in relation to designating Swamp river and Tenmile river as inland waterways for the purposes of waterfront revitalization PURPOSE : Designates Swamp and Tenmile rivers as inland waterways for purposes of waterfront revitalization. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section one amends paragraph (b) of subdivision 4 of section 911 of the executive law, regarding the definition of "inland waterways", by adding the following rivers Swamp and Tenmile (in the county of Dutchess). Section two establishes the effective date. JUSTIFICATION : The Great Swamp is one of New York's greatest natural resources, a National Historic Landmark and a Critical Environmental Area designated by the Department of Environmental Conservation. It drains 63,000 acres and spans two watersheds, divided in the town of Pawling

Paragraph (b) of subdivision 4 of section 911 of the execu- tive law, as separately amended by chapters 113 and 216 of the laws of 2016, is amended to read as follows: (b) the state's major rivers comprised of the Allegheny, Ausable, Battenkill, Black, Boquet, Bronx, Canisteo, Chaumont (including Chaumont bay), Chemung, Cohocton, Delaware, Deer, Genesee, Grasse, Great Chazy, Hoosic, Hudson north of the federal dam at Troy, Indian, Little (in the Adirondack park), Little Ausable, Little Salmon (including north and south branches), Mad, Mettowee, Mohawk, Oswegatchie, Pocantico, Racquette, Sacandaga, Salmon, Saranac, Saw Mill, Schroon, Susquehanna, SWAMP, TENMILE (IN THE COUNTY OF DUTCHESS), Tioga, Tioughnioga, Wallkill and Buffalo rivers, and the north and middle branches of the Moose river; § 2.
