   printed to be committed to the Committee on Health
 
 AN ACT to amend the public health law, in  relation  to  establishing  a
   maximum  contaminant  level for hexavalent chromium in public drinking
   water

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  The  public health law is amended by adding a new section
 1100-c to read as follows:
   § 1100-C. HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM ALSO KNOWN AS CHROMIUM-6. 1. THE COMMIS-
 SIONER SHALL CONDUCT A COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATION OF HEXAVALENT  CHROMIUM
 ALSO  KNOWN  AS CHROMIUM-6 AND ESTABLISH A MAXIMUM CONTAMINANT LEVEL FOR
 THE PRESENCE OF ANY HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM IN PUBLIC  SUPPLIES  OF  POTABLE
 WATER THAT IS PROTECTIVE OF PUBLIC HEALTH.
   2. SUCH EXAMINATION AND DRINKING WATER STANDARD FOR HEXAVALENT CHROMI-
 UM  SHALL  BE  IMPLEMENTED  IN  ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATE ADMINISTRATIVE
 PROCEDURE ACT AND BE COMPLETED AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE, INCLUDING  IMPLE-
 MENTATION  BY EMERGENCY RULE IF DETERMINED BY THE COMMISSIONER AS NECES-
 SARY TO PROTECT PUBLIC HEALTH.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to including  hexava-
   lent chromium in the list of emerging contaminants
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Paragraph c of subdivision 3 of section 1112 of the  public
 health law, as added by section 1 of part M of chapter 57 of the laws of
 2017, is amended to read as follows:
   c.  The commissioner shall, at a minimum, include the following chemi-
 cals identified as emerging contaminants: 1,4-dioxane; HEXAVALENT  CHRO-
 MIUM  (CHROMIUM-6);  perfluorooctanesulfonic acid; and perfluorooctanoic
 acid.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
