BILL NUMBER: S4787 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the tax law, in relation to extending the authorization for imposition of additional sales tax in the county of Cortland PURPOSE : To authorize the Cortland County Legislature to continue an additional 1 percent sales tax for a 2 year period. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : The bill amends section 1210 of the tax law, as amended by chapter 113 of the laws of 2015, to extend the authorization for Cortland County to impose an additional 1 percent sales tax until November 30, 2019. EXISTING LAW : The law is set to expire on November 30, 2017. JUSTIFICATION : The Cortland County Legislature passed a resolution (No.105-17) requesting that the New York State Legislature introduce and pass a bill to authorize the county to impose an additional 1 percent sales

SEWARD -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to extending the authorization for imposition of additional sales tax in the county of Cortland THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Clause 12 of subparagraph (i) of the opening paragraph of section 1210 of the tax law, as amended by chapter 113 of the laws of 2015, is amended to read as follows: (12) the county of Cortland is hereby further authorized and empowered to adopt and amend local laws, ordinances, or resolutions imposing such taxes at a rate which is one percent additional to the three percent rate authorized above in this paragraph for such county for the period beginning September first, nineteen hundred ninety-two and ending Novem- ber thirtieth, two thousand [seventeen] NINETEEN; § 2.
