BILL NUMBER: S4801 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the tax law, in relation to extending the authorization of the county of Broome to impose an additional one percent of sales and compensating use taxes PURPOSE OF BILL : This bill authorizes the County of Broome to extend a one percent sales tax through 2019. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : This bill extends Broome County's current one percent sales tax by amending the ending date from November 30, 2017 to November 30, 2019. JUSTIFICATION : The Broome County legislature has requested legislation to extend authorization to impose an additional 1% County sales tax which is set to expire in November, 2019. AKSHAR -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to extending the authorization of the county of Broome to impose an additional one percent of sales and compensating use taxes THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Clause 18 of subparagraph (i) of the opening paragraph of section 1210 of the tax law, as amended by chapter 114 of the laws of 2015, is amended to read as follows: (18) the county of Broome is hereby further authorized and empowered to adopt and amend local laws, ordinances or resolutions imposing such taxes at a rate which is one percent additional to the three percent rate authorized above in this paragraph for such county for the period beginning March first, nineteen hundred ninety-four, and ending November thirtieth, two thousand [seventeen] NINETEEN; § 2.
