BILL NUMBER: S5506 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend chapter 75 of the laws of 2015, amending the environmental conservation law relating to authorizing the taking of big game in the county of Schenectady using a rifle, in relation to making the provisions thereof permanent PURPOSE : This legislation is intended to permanently authorize the use of rifles to take big game in the county of Schenectady. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1. Amends section 5 of chapter 75 of the laws of 2015 to permanently authorize the use of rifles to take big game in the county of Schenectady. Section 2. Establishes the effective date. JUSTIFICATION : Under current law, the provision that makes it legal to take big game with a rifle in Schenectady County is set to expire on October 1, 2017. This legislation would remove the expiration and authorize the taking of big game with a rifle in Schenectady County permanently.

AMEDORE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Environmental Conservation AN ACT to amend chapter 75 of the laws of 2015, amending the environ- mental conservation law relating to authorizing the taking of big game in the county of Schenectady using a rifle, in relation to making the provisions thereof permanent THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 5 of chapter 75 of the laws of 2015, amending the environmental conservation law relating to authorizing the taking of big game in the county of Schenectady using a rifle, is amended to read as follows: § 5. This act shall take effect immediately, provided that: (a) the amendments to item (d) of paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the environmental conservation law, made by section one of this act, shall not affect the expiration and repeal of the amendments thereto, made by chapter 141 of the laws of 2014, and shall expire and be deemed repealed therewith, when upon such date section two of this act shall take effect; AND (b) the amendments to paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the environmental conservation law, made by sections two and three of this act, shall be subject to the expiration and reversion of such para- graph pursuant to section 13 of chapter 600 of the laws of 1993, as amended, when upon such date section four of this act shall take effect[; and (c) nothing contained in this act shall be construed so as to extend the provisions of this act beyond October 1, 2017, when upon such date this act shall expire and the provisions contained herein shall be deemed repealed]. § 2.
