BILL NUMBER: S5913 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system, as the "Gerard 'Jess' Fitzpatrick Memorial Bridge" PURPOSE : Designates a portion of the state highway system as the "Gerard 'Jess' Fitzpatrick Memorial Bridge." SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1: Amends the highway law by adding a new section 344-f, which designates the bridge on U.S. Route 219, crossing over Cattaraugus Creek, in the counties of Cattaraugus and Erie, as the "Gerard 'Jess' Fitzpatrick Memorial Bridge." Section 2: States that the commissioner of transportation shall provide for the installation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway systems as designated pursuant to section 1 of this act. The designation will be for ceremonial purposes only, and the roads official name will not be changed as a result of this act.

YOUNG -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system, as the "Gerard 'Jess' Fitzpatrick Memorial Bridge" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-f to read as follows: § 344-F. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "GERARD 'JESS' FITZPATRICK MEMORIAL BRIDGE". THE BRIDGE ON UNITED STATES ROUTE TWO HUNDRED NINETEEN, CROSSING OVER CATTARAUGUS CREEK, IN THE COUNTIES OF CATTARAUGUS AND ERIE, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "GERARD 'JESS' FITZPATRICK MEMORIAL BRIDGE". § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be changed as a result of this act. § 3.
