BILL NUMBER: S8122 SPONSOR: KENNEDY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 108 of the laws of 2016, amending the vehicle and traffic law relating to authorizing a pilot residential parking permit system in the city of Buffalo, in relation to the effectiveness thereof PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of this legislation is to allow the city of Buffalo to continue its residential parking permit system. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of amends the effective date of chapter 108 of the laws of 2016 to provide for such chapter to remain effective for a period of eight years from the date of implementation of the city of Buffalo's local residential permit law; which would provide for a six year exten- sion of such program from December 23, 2018.

KENNEDY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend chapter 108 of the laws of 2016, amending the vehicle and traffic law relating to authorizing a pilot residential parking permit system in the city of Buffalo, in relation to the effectiveness thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 3 of chapter 108 of the laws of 2016, amending the vehicle and traffic law relating to authorizing a pilot residential parking permit system in the city of Buffalo, is amended to read as follows: § 3. This act shall take effect immediately and shall remain in full force and effect for a period of [730 days] EIGHT YEARS after the imple- mentation of the local law or ordinance adopted by the city of Buffalo pursuant to section 1640-p of the vehicle and traffic law as added by section two of this act at which time this act shall expire and be deemed repealed. The city of Buffalo shall notify the legislative bill drafting commission upon the occurrence of such implementation or adoption in order that the commission may maintain an accurate and time- ly effective data base of the official text of the laws of the state of New York in furtherance of effectuating the provisions of section 44 of the legislative law and section 70-b of the public officers law. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD15149-01-8
