BILL NUMBER: S8215 SPONSOR: LAVALLE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 381 of the laws of 2012 amend- ing the education law relating to the licensure of private proprietary schools, in relation to the effectiveness of certain provisions of such chapter PURPOSE: Extends certain provisions for licensure for private career schools. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. Extends certain provisions relating to private career school licenses for another three years. Section 2. Provides that this act shall take effect immediately. LAVALLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend chapter 381 of the laws of 2012 amending the education law relating to the licensure of private proprietary schools, in relation to the effectiveness of certain provisions of such chapter THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 12 of chapter 381 of the laws of 2012, amending the education law relating to the licensure of private proprietary schools, as amended by chapter 120 of the laws of 2015, is amended to read as follows: § 12. This act shall take effect on the one hundred twentieth day after it shall have become a law; provided, however, that subparagraph (iv) of paragraph b of subdivision 4 of section 5001 of the education law, as added by section three of this act, shall expire and be deemed repealed [six] NINE years after such effective date; and provided, further, that paragraph g of subdivision 10 of section 5007 of the education law, as amended by section eight of this act shall not affect the repeal of such paragraph and shall be deemed repealed therewith; and provided, further, that effective immediately, the commissioner of education is authorized and directed to promulgate any regulations need- ed to implement the provisions of this act on such effective date. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD15402-01-8
