BILL NUMBER: S8317 SPONSOR: JACOBS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 656 of the laws of 2002 amending the general business law relating to rental vehicle protections, in relation to extending the provisions of such chapter PURPOSE: To extend the provisions of GBL § 396-z relating to certain rental vehi- cle protections for an additional five years. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Amends section 396-z of the general business law by extending the sunset provision (currently scheduled to occur June 30, 2018)for an additional five years (June 30, 2023).

JACOBS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Consumer Protection AN ACT to amend chapter 656 of the laws of 2002 amending the general business law relating to rental vehicle protections, in relation to extending the provisions of such chapter THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 4 of chapter 656 of the laws of 2002 amending the general business law relating to rental vehicle protections, as amended by chapter 82 of the laws of 2013, is amended to read as follows: § 4. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law; provided that all of the amendments made by this act shall expire and be deemed repealed June 30, [2018] 2023. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD15655-01-8
