BILL NUMBER: S8910 SPONSOR: BONACIC TITLE OF BILL: An act to extend the tentative and final assessment roll filing dates for the town of Neversink, in the county of Sullivan PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: Allows the town of Neversink to file the tentative and final assessment rolls at a later date. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1:Permits the town of Neversink in the county of Sullivan to file their tentative assessment rolls for 2018-2019 one day after the effective date of this act. Section 2:Permits the appropriate parties in the town of Neversink in the county of Sullivan to review grievances and complaints to be heard in relation to 2018-2019 assessment rolls beginning the seventeenth day of July.

BONACIC -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to extend the tentative and final assessment roll filing dates for the town of Neversink, in the county of Sullivan THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding section 506 of the real property tax law, the town of Neversink, in the county of Sullivan, shall be permitted to file their tentative assessment rolls for the 2018-2019 assessment rolls one day after the effective date of this act. § 2. Notwithstanding section 512 of the real property tax law or any special or local law, the board of assessment review in the town of Neversink, in the county of Sullivan, shall be permitted to meet to hear complaints in relation to the 2018-2019 assessment rolls beginning the seventeenth day of July. § 3. Notwithstanding section 516 of the real property tax law, the town of Neversink, in the county of Sullivan, shall be permitted to file their final assessment rolls for the 2018-2019 assessment rolls on or before the first day of August. § 4. BILL NUMBER: S8910A SPONSOR: BONACIC TITLE OF BILL: An act to extend the tentative and final assessment roll filing dates for the town of Neversink, in the county of Sullivan PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: Authorizes the town of Neversink, Sullivan County, upon passage of a local law or resolution, to cancel any previously issued tentative assessment roll, and file a corrected tentative assessment roll by no later than June 30, 2018. The bill permits the town to schedule a new date to hear grievances from taxpayers on their tentative assessments. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: (a) Authorizes the assessor for the town of Neversink, Sulli- van County, to file the town's 2018 tentative assessment roll by no later than June 30, 2018, following the specific provisions included in this act. BONACIC -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to extend the tentative and final assessment roll filing dates for the town of Neversink, in the county of Sullivan THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. (a) Notwithstanding any general, special, or local law to the contrary, the assessor for the town of Neversink, county of Sulli- van, following passage of a local law or resolution authorizing the postponement of the filing of the tentative assessment roll shall file the 2018 tentative assessment roll for the town no later than June 30, 2018, subject to the provisions of this act. (b) An assessing unit which is subject to the provisions of this act, following adoption of a local law or resolution postponing the filing of the tentative assessment roll to a date no later than June 30, 2018, and canceling any previously filed tentative assessment roll for 2018, shall file a copy of such local law or resolution with the state tax depart- ment office of real property services. (c) The governing body of such an assessing unit may adopt a local law or resolution superseding its prescribed date for filing the tentative assessment roll and associated dates relative to the 2018 assessment roll to the extent it deems necessary to accommodate the determination of assessments of all property in the assessing unit, and for the proc- essing and full consideration of complaints, subject to the following: (i) The governing body shall, by local law or resolution, establish a specific date by which the assessor shall be required to file a tenta- tive assessment roll. (ii) The governing body shall provide for the notification of property owners of any increases in assessments from a previous year. (iii) If the locally applicable period for filing complaints with respect to tentative assessments shall end on or before the date estab- lished pursuant to paragraph (i) of this subdivision, the governing body EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
