BILL NUMBER: S9011 SPONSOR: LITTLE TITLE OF BILL: An act to authorize the commissioner of the department of civil service to reinstate Edward P. Ackley on the eligible civil service list for employment as a full-time police officer for the village of Hudson Falls PURPOSE: Authorizes Edward P. Ackley to take the competitive exam for police officer and be placed on the eligible list for such position in the Village of Hudson Falls. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: Authorizes Edward P. Ackley to sit for the civil service exam and be placed on the eligibility list for full time police officer for the Village of Hudson Falls. Section 2: Establishes the effective date as immediately.

LITTLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to authorize the commissioner of the department of civil service to reinstate Edward P. Ackley on the eligible civil service list for employment as a full-time police officer for the village of Hudson Falls THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil service law or any other provision of law to the contrary, Edward P. Ackley who is now no longer deemed eligible for employment as a village of Hudson Falls police officer due to a change in the law that was implemented by chapter 561 of the laws of 2015 which amended section 58 of the civil service law to include village police officers in the defi- nition of police officers subject to a thirty-five year old maximum age limit, shall be exempt from said thirty-five year old maximum age limit and shall be eligible for employment as a village of Hudson Falls police officer. Edward P. Ackley shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service laws applicable to full-time police officers. § 2. The commissioner of the department of civil service shall rein- state Edward P. Ackley on the eligible civil service list, without lost rank or seniority, provided Mr. Ackley files a request to that effect with the state comptroller by January 1, 2019. Any such reinstatement shall be effective immediately. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
