BILL NUMBER: S9162 SPONSOR: BONACIC TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to designating uniformed court officers in the town of Wallkill, county of Orange as peace officers PURPOSE: Designates employees of the town court of the Town of Wallkill serving as uniformed court officers as peace officers. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: Amends section 2.10 of the Criminal Procedure Law by adding a new subdivision 85 which provides that employees of the town court of the Town of Wallkill serving as uniformed court officers are designated as peace officers.

BONACIC -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to designating uniformed court officers in the town of Wallkill, county of Orange as peace officers THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by adding a new subdivision 85 to read as follows: 85. EMPLOYEES OF THE TOWN COURT OF THE TOWN OF WALLKILL SERVING AS UNIFORMED COURT OFFICERS IN THE COURTS OF SUCH TOWN COURT; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT NOTHING IN THIS SUBDIVISION SHALL BE DEEMED TO AUTHORIZE SUCH EMPLOYEES TO CARRY, POSSESS, REPAIR OR DISPOSE OF A FIREARM UNLESS THE APPROPRIATE LICENSE THEREFORE HAS BEEN ISSUED PURSUANT TO SECTION 400.00 OF THE PENAL LAW. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD16535-01-8
