COMMENDING Mayor Ronald Woodward upon the occasion
of his retirement after four decades of service to
his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Mayor Ronald Woodward upon the occasion of his retirement after
almost four decades of service to his community; and

WHEREAS, Born in the old Fulton Hospital in 1949, Ronald Woodward
has spent his life serving the residents of the City of Fulton, New
York, as a key member of its government; in this role, he strived to
improve services to each and every one of his constituents; and

WHEREAS, After buying a home in Fulton's sixth ward, Ronald Woodward
served on the Fulton Common Council from 1982 until December 31, 1985,
when he was elected Mayor, a role he held until he stepped down two
years later; and

WHEREAS, In 1996, Ronald Woodward decided to return to public
service and was once again elected to the Fulton Common Council; in
2004, he accepted a position as the executive assistant to the mayor
before assuming that title in 2008, a position he faithfully served
until his retirement in 2019; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Mayor Ronald Woodward diligently
worked to seek new ways to save taxpayer dollars, and led the city's
efforts to rehabilitate the former Nestle site, several Fulton
neighborhoods and Lake Neatahwanta; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Woodward has also held the title of President of the
Fulton Housing Authority Board of Directors, and played key roles in a
number of local organizations including the American Cancer Society, the
Fulton Salvation Army, the Cub Scouts and Parent Teacher Association;
and

WHEREAS, In addition to his numerous years of civic service and
volunteer efforts, Ronald Woodward was employed by Nestle until it
closed in 2003; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Woodward's passion for the City of Fulton and its
people is second to none and through his service, he has truly made the
city of Fulton a better place to work, live and play; and

WHEREAS, In his capacity as public servant, Mayor Ronald Woodward
served with loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in his
official acts; and


WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Mayor Ronald Woodward upon the occasion of his retirement after
almost four decades of service to his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mayor Ronald Woodward.
