 AN  ACT  to amend a chapter of the laws of 2018, relating to authorizing
   and directing the commissioner of education to conduct a study on  the
   effects  of  trauma  on  child development and learning as proposed in
   legislative bills numbers  S.8000-B  and  A.10063-B,  in  relation  to
   authorizing  and  directing  the  commissioner  of children and family
   services to conduct a study on the effects of trauma on child develop-
   ment and learning; and to repeal certain provisions of  the  education
   law relating thereto
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Subdivision 59 of section 305  of  the  education  law,  as
 added  by  a  chapter  of  the  laws of 2018, amending the education law
 relating to authorizing and directing the commissioner of  education  to
 conduct a study on the effects of trauma on child development and learn-
 ing, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.8000-B and A.10063-B, is
 REPEALED.
   §  2. A chapter of the laws of 2018, amending the education law relat-
 ing to authorizing  and  directing  the  commissioner  of  education  to
 conduct a study on the effects of trauma on child development and learn-
 ing, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.8000-B and A.10063-B, is
 amended by adding a new section 1-a to read as follows:
   §  1-A. THE COMMISSIONER OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES, IN CONSULTA-
 TION WITH THE COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION AND THE COMMISSIONER OF  HEALTH,
 IS  AUTHORIZED  AND DIRECTED TO CONDUCT A STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF TRAUMA
 ON CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND LEARNING. SUCH STUDY SHALL INCLUDE, BUT NOT  BE
 LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:
   (I) THE TYPES OF TRAUMA EXPERIENCED BY STUDENTS;
   (II) THE IMPACTS OF TRAUMA ON CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND LEARNING;
   (III) SCREENING AND ASSESSMENTS OF TRAUMA AVAILABLE IN SCHOOLS;
 
  EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
                       [ ] is old law to be omitted.
