 AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to  prohibiting
   the  parking  of  a vehicle greater than sixty inches in height within
   fifteen feet of an intersection
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1. Subdivision (a) of section 1202 of the vehicle and traffic
 law is amended by adding a new paragraph 4 to read as follows:
   4. A. PARK A VEHICLE, WHETHER OCCUPIED OR NOT, EXCEPT TEMPORARILY  FOR
 THE  PURPOSE  OF  AND  WHILE  ACTUALLY  ENGAGED  IN LOADING OR UNLOADING
 MERCHANDISE OR PASSENGERS, WITHIN FIFTEEN FEET  OF  THE  NEAREST  INTER-
 SECTION WHERE THE VEHICLE PARKED IS GREATER THAN SIXTY INCHES IN HEIGHT.
   B.  ANY VEHICLE PARKED IN VIOLATION OF THIS PARAGRAPH SHALL BE SUBJECT
 TO PENALTIES SET BY THE LOCAL GOVERNING BODY WITH  THE  POWER  TO  ENACT
 SUCH SANCTIONS.
   C.  NOTWITHSTANDING  ANY  OTHER  PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, ANY
 MUNICIPALITY OF THIS STATE, ACTING THROUGH ITS LOCAL  LEGISLATIVE  BODY,
 IS  HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND EMPOWERED TO ADOPT AND AMEND LOCAL LAWS, RULES
 AND ORDINANCES, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS PARAGRAPH,  IN
 ORDER  TO  IMPOSE  A  PENALTY  FOR  VIOLATING  THIS PARAGRAPH, WHICH MAY
 INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO, THE COST OF TOWING THE VEHICLE.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
