S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 7825 2019-2020 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y May 23, 2019 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. LAVINE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to the residency of correction officers employed by the county of Nassau THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 3 of the public officers law is amended by adding a new subdivision 68 to read as follows: 68. IN THE COUNTY OF NASSAU, THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION, OR OF ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL OR LOCAL LAW, CHARTER, CODE, ORDINANCE, RESOLUTION, RULE OR REGULATION, REQUIRING A PERSON TO BE A RESIDENT OF THE POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OR MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF THE STATE FOR WHICH SUCH PERSON SHALL BE CHOSEN OR WITHIN WHICH SUCH PERSON'S OFFICIAL FUNCTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO BE EXERCISED, SHALL NOT PREVENT A PERSON FROM HOLDING THE OFFICE OF CORRECTION OFFICER IN NASSAU COUNTY, PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT SUCH PERSON PERFORMING THE DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS OF CORRECTION OFFICER RESIDES IN NASSAU COUNTY OR ANY ADJOINING COUNTY WITHIN NEW YORK STATE UNLESS OTHERWISE PROVIDED BY AN ACT OF THE STATE LEGISLATURE. § 2.
