BILL NUMBER: S3809 SPONSOR: STAVISKY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 537 of the laws of 2008, amending the education law relating to a restricted dental faculty license, in relation to making such provisions permanent PURPOSE: To make permanent current provisions of law concerning licensure of foreign-trained dentists who are employed as full-time faculty members at a New York State dental school. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 2 eliminates the expiration date (currently February 1, 2021) for a restricted dental faculty license. JUSTIFICATION:

STAVISKY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend chapter 537 of the laws of 2008, amending the education law relating to a restricted dental faculty license, in relation to making such provisions permanent THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2 of chapter 537 of the laws of 2008, amending the education law relating to a restricted dental faculty license, as amended by chapter 301 of the laws of 2018, is amended to read as follows: § 2. This act shall take effect February 1, 2009 [and shall expire February 1, 2021 when upon such date the provisions of this act shall be deemed repealed; provided that the commissioner of education is author- ized to promulgate rules and regulations necessary to implement the provisions of this act prior to such effective date; and provided further that any restricted dental faculty license awarded prior to February 1, 2021 shall remain valid and effective until the expiration thereof]. § 2.
