 Introduced  by  Sen. METZGER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions
 
 AN ACT to authorize Curt McDermott to take the competitive civil service
   examination and be placed on the eligible list for  appointment  as  a
   full-time police officer

   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of  the  civil
 service  law  or any other provision of law to the contrary, Curt McDer-
 mott, who has been continuously employed by the town of  Shawangunk,  in
 the  county  of Ulster, as a part-time police officer, shall be eligible
 to take the competitive civil service examination for  the  position  of
 police officer and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination,
 be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-
 time police officer.
   §  2.  Curt  McDermott  shall  otherwise  be  subject to the merit and
 fitness provisions of the civil  service  law  applicable  to  full-time
 police officers.
   § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.

 AN ACT to authorize Curt McDermott to take the competitive civil service

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
