BILL NUMBER: S6257 SPONSOR: HARCKHAM TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to authorizing the assessor of the town of Mount Pleasant to refund fees, fines, penalties and interest to certain real property taxpayers PURPOSE:: To allow the town of Mount Pleasant to refund fees, fines, penalties and interest to certain real property taxpayers. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:: Section 1 allows the assessor of the town of Mount Pleasant to refund any fees, fines, penalties, and interest accrued on real property taxes owed by an owner of real property within the town who failed to pay 2019 county and town taxes on or before April 30, 2019 due to a failure by the Mount Pleasant post office to deliver real property tax bills. Section 2 establishes the effective date.

HARCKHAM -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government AN ACT in relation to authorizing the assessor of the town of Mount Pleasant to refund fees, fines, penalties and interest to certain real property taxpayers THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the assessor of the town of Mount Pleasant, county of Westchester, may, upon approval by the Mount Pleasant town board, refund any fees, fines, penalties, and interest accrued on real property taxes owed by any owner of real prop- erty located within such town who failed to pay 2019 county and town taxes on or before April 30, 2019 due to a failure by the Mount Pleasant post office to deliver real property tax bills for such taxes to such owners. Any owner of real property who failed to receive a real property tax bill may apply for a refund pursuant to this act to the assessor of the town of Mount Pleasant in a manner and form to be determined by such assessor, provided that no interest shall be refunded for fees, fines, penalties and interest occurring after June 30, 2019. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD13084-01-9
