BILL NUMBER: S7697 Revised 2/10/2020 SPONSOR: JACOBS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to allowing the federal government access to certain department of motor vehicles infor- mation for the purposes of reviewing applications for federal programs PURPOSE: To amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to allowing the feder- al government access to certain department of motor vehicles information for the purposes of reviewing applications for federal programs. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill adds new subdivision 13 to section 201 of the vehicle and traffic law to require the commissioner of the department of motor vehicles to provide any requested documentation to a federal agen- cy regarding an individual's application to a federal program.

JACOBS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to allowing the federal government access to certain department of motor vehicles information for the purposes of reviewing applications for federal programs THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 201 of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new subdivision 13 to read as follows: 13. NOTWITHSTANDING SUBDIVISIONS EIGHT, NINE, TEN, ELEVEN AND TWELVE OF THIS SECTION, WHEN A FEDERAL AGENCY REQUESTS DOCUMENTS, RECORDS, OR OTHER INFORMATION FOR THE PURPOSES OF SUCH AGENCY'S REVIEW OF AN APPLI- CATION SUBMITTED BY A PERSON FOR A FEDERAL PROGRAM, THE COMMISSIONER SHALL DISCLOSE AND OTHERWISE MAKE ACCESSIBLE ANY REQUESTED DOCUMENTS, RECORDS, OR OTHER INFORMATION WHERE THE APPLICANT IS THE SUBJECT OF SUCH DOCUMENTS, RECORDS, OR OTHER INFORMATION. § 2.
