BILL NUMBER: S8664 SPONSOR: SEWARD TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the general city law, in relation to exempting the city of Cortland from article four of the general city law PURPOSE: To allow the city of Cortland to dispense with its plumbing commission and to appoint a plumbing inspector to fulfill those functions. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends section 57 of the general city to add the city of Cort- land to the list of cities already currently exempt under the law. Section two provides for an effective date thirty days after it has been signed into law.

SEWARD -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the general city law, in relation to exempting the city of Cortland from article four of the general city law THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 57 of the general city law, as amended by chapter 274 of the laws of 2016, is amended to read as follows: 1. This article shall not apply to any of the following cities: New York, Binghamton, Schenectady, Elmira, Beacon, Hornell, Olean [and], Poughkeepsie AND CORTLAND. § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD16828-01-0
