MOURNING the death of Frank George, World War II
veteran, ex-Prisoner of War, and devoted member of
his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Frank "Pip" George of Endicott, New York, died on Friday,
January 14, 2022, at the age of 102; and

WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Army, Frank George served in
the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II; he was captured during
the invasion of Sicily and became a prisoner of war in Germany where he
escaped and was recaptured and escaped again to freedom after a total of
22 months; and

WHEREAS, Frank George was a past New York State Commander of the
American Ex-Prisoners of War, and a member of the American Legion, Post
1700; and

WHEREAS, A retired employee of SUNY Binghamton, Frank George
distinguished himself in his profession and by his sincere dedication
and substantial contribution to the welfare of his community; and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by his wife, Vicki George in 2007; his
brothers, Jimmy (Betty) George, Sam (Mary) George; his sister, Lee
(Frank) Gaydorus; and his grandson, David George, Frank George is
survived by his three children, Frank (Sheryl) George, Mick (Rose)
George, and Kris (Pete) Olevano; his 10 grandchildren, Frankie George,
Michael George, Kelly George, Miranda (Mario) George, Kevin Lee, Kelly
Cwikla, Anthony (Michelle) Olevano, Michelle (Jim) Foley, Christina
(Jason) Olevano, and James (Rose) Odom; and his eight
great-grandchildren, Veronica, Brittany and Courtney George, Sadeeq
Tarry, Micah Olevano, Paul and Sam Cwikla, Mykal Lee; as well as several
nieces, nephews and cousins; and

WHEREAS, A congregant of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Endicott,
Frank George enjoyed bowling, golfing, the Buffalo Bills and the New
York Yankees; he also loved fishing with his sons and nephews and
spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Frank George leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; he will be deeply missed and truly merits the
grateful tribute of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Frank George, and to express its deepest condolences
to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Frank George.
