COMMEMORATING the 90th Anniversary of Glen Floors

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses that contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 90th Anniversary of Glen Floors; and

WHEREAS, Glen Floors was established by Fred Capobianco in 1932 at a
small storefront at 68 Glen Street in Glen Cove, New York, where it
remained until 1984 when the business moved to its present location at
30 Glen Street; and

WHEREAS, Fred Capobianco began his illustrious business career as a
young man working at his father Antonio's own appliance and furniture
store in the Orchard installing floor covering; and

WHEREAS, With his proven business leadership abilities and his
steadfast dedication to his community, Fred Capobianco has owned several
successful stores on Long Island, including in Hicksville, Syosset and
Babylon; and

WHEREAS, A family owned and operated business for the past nine
decades, Fred Capobianco has proudly passed the reins of managing Glen
Floors to some of his 17 children: Carol Nelson (Capobianco), Jerome
Capobianco, William Capobianco, Michael Capobianco and Jane Rodier
(Capobianco); and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history spanning nearly a century,
Glen Floors has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and
communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of Glen Floors is in direct correlation to the
efforts of its hardworking and dedicated staff, all of whom are
considered a part of the Capobianco family; their involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the business and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business, its contributions to the local
and state economies, and its vibrant role in improving the quality of
life in its community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy
the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 90th Anniversary of Glen Floors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Glen Floors, Glen Cove, New York.
