CONGRATULATING Dr. Margaret Ballantyne-Mannion
upon the occasion of being inducted into the 28th
Annual May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by the
Town of North Hempstead, in conjunction with the
observance of Women's History Month

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those women of achievement within this great Empire State
who have made strong contributions to their communities and who inspire
others through their model citizenship; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Dr. Margaret Ballantyne-Mannion upon the occasion of being
inducted into the 28th Annual May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by
the Town of North Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of
Women's History Month; and

WHEREAS, Since 1994, the Town of North Hempstead has honored women
who have made a contribution to their community, or have accomplished a
significant achievement through public or private efforts; Dr. Margaret
Ballantyne-Mannion is one such woman; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Margaret Ballantyne-Mannion has devoted her life to
taking care of the children of her community; she has served as a Board
of Education Trustee of the Mineola Union Free School District for the
past seven years and as its Vice President for the past five years; and

WHEREAS, As a Spanish professor for the past 38 years, Dr. Margaret
Ballantyne-Mannion brings a particular passion and joy to the district's
dual language program which begins in Kindergarten; she can often be
found in classrooms, visiting virtually and in-person, and fostering her
love of being bilingual to the students with warmth and professionalism;
she is also a strong proponent of sharing district-developed curriculum
and programs with other communities within the Town of North Hempstead;
and

WHEREAS, Dr. Margaret Ballantyne-Mannion is also actively involved
with the district's Special Education PTA (SEPTA) where she has served
as an interpreter for Spanish-speaking families and diligently attends
every meeting and fundraiser event; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dr. Margaret Ballantyne-Mannion upon the occasion of being
inducted into the 28th Annual May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by
the Town of North Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of
Women's History Month; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Margaret Ballantyne-Mannion.
