COMMENDING Mason Haas upon the occasion of his
retirement after 13 years of distinguished service
as Riverhead Town Assessor
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Mason Haas upon the occasion of his retirement after 13 years of
distinguished service as Riverhead Town Assessor; and
WHEREAS, Mason Haas began his illustrious career as Town Assessor of
Riverhead, New York, when he was elected in 2007; he officially stepped
down from this esteemed position on March 2, 2021, after more than a
decade of extraordinary public service; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Mason Haas has given tirelessly of his time and energy to the
Jamesport Fire Department as a class A firefighter and as Vice President
of the Jamesport Fire Department Association; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he served as master of ceremonies for numerous
events, including the annual Jamesport Fire Department's Fourth of July
Parade and the East End Emerald Society's St. Patrick's Day Parade; and
WHEREAS, For the past 13 years, Mason Haas rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Town of Riverhead, earning the
admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as Town Assessor, Mason Haas served with
loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of duty
and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in his official acts;
and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Maureen, and their
four children, Stephanie, Ashley, Erika and Cody, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his many
accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Mason Haas has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Mason Haas upon the occasion of his retirement, and to wish him
continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mason Haas.
