MOURNING the death of Kevin Wheelock,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Wheelock of Ilion, New York, died on Saturday, June
5, 2021, at the age of 62; and

WHEREAS, Born on November 30, 1958, Kevin Wheelock was the son of
the late Howard and Doris (Crim) Wheelock; and

WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Ilion, Kevin Wheelock and the former
Cathy Eaker were united in marriage on April 29, 1989, at the Ilion
Presbyterian Church; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to his profession, Kevin Wheelock, affectionately
known as Wheels, was a working supervisor at Mohawk DPW, the esteemed
position from which he retired; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Kevin Wheelock was an active member of both the Ilion and
Frankfort Volunteer Fire Departments; he also served as President of the
NNYP & DTCA and NYSP & DTCA; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Kevin Wheelock was a member of the Sons of the
American Legion, Ilion Elks Lodge No. 1444, Ilion Knights of Columbus,
St. Francis and FOE; and

WHEREAS, This extraordinary outdoorsman also loved camping and
boating and would often combine his loves into weekends with friends and
family; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Wheelock is survived by his wife, Cathy; three sons,
Jason (Heidi), Jim (Stephanie), Brett (Dana); and one daughter, Jennifer
(Joe); and 14 grandchildren; as well as his siblings and many nieces and
nephews; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Wheelock's infinite selflessness and benevolence will
shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories; his insight and
strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and hope to the
countless lives he touched; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Kevin Wheelock leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all who
were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man; he will be
deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Kevin Wheelock, and to express its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Kevin Wheelock.
