CONGRATULATING Shelby Benjamin upon the occasion
of being crowned the 2021-2022 New York State Dairy
Princess

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by citizens of this great State and Nation;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Shelby Benjamin upon the occasion of being named the
2021-2022 New York State Dairy Princess; and

WHEREAS, The Dairy Princess program, sponsored by the American Dairy
Association and Dairy Council, seeks to highlight the nutrition and
importance of dairy products while also fostering a deeper appreciation
of local dairy farmers within the community; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Norwich, New York, Shelby Benjamin was named
New York State Dairy Princess after competing against 11 county dairy
princesses from across the state; and

WHEREAS, Competition in the 58th State pageant included a personal
interview, a prepared speech, a product knowledge test and a writing
skills test as well as informal interaction with others; judges
evaluated the contestants on their communication skills, knowledge of
the dairy industry, poise and personality; and

WHEREAS, From all of the speeches delivered by pageant contestants,
Shelby Benjamin's prepared speech was recognized by the judges as the
best one; and

WHEREAS, As State Dairy Princess, Shelby Benjamin will receive a
scholarship and represent the American Dairy Association and Dairy
Council, Inc. at county dairy princess pageants, farm meetings and
special events throughout New York State; she will continue to spread
the message of the importance of agriculture and she will help train new
county promoters at seminars and workshops; and

WHEREAS, Through her active involvement in the community and her
sincere dedication to local dairy farming, Shelby Benjamin is a true
role model for her peers; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
young woman now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and
appreciating the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers and
parents; and

WHEREAS, Shelby Benjamin exemplifies the best potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; she has brought

enduring honor to her family and her community through her many
achievements; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Shelby Benjamin upon the occasion of being crowned the
2021-2022 New York State Dairy Princess, and to wish her continued
success in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Shelby Benjamin.
