HUNTER -- read once and referred to the Committee on Social Services AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to public notice of basic rights THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The social services law is amended by adding a new section 134-c to read as follows: § 134-C. PUBLIC NOTICE OF BASIC RIGHTS. THE OFFICE OF TEMPORARY AND DISABILITY ASSISTANCE SHALL WORK WITH THE LOCAL SOCIAL SERVICES DISTRICTS TO DETERMINE WHAT INFORMATION SHOULD BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS AND RECIPIENTS OF PUBLIC ASSISTANCE. THE OFFICE OF TEMPORARY AND DISA- BILITY ASSISTANCE SHALL FURTHER DETERMINE WHICH OF THAT INFORMATION SHALL BE PLACED ON THE OFFICE'S WEBSITE. § 2. HUNTER -- read once and referred to the Committee on Social Services -- recommitted to the Committee on Social Services in accordance with Assembly Rule 3, sec. 2 -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to public notice of basic rights THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The social services law is amended by adding a new section 134-c to read as follows: § 134-C. REQUIREMENT TO PUBLICLY POST INFORMATION. 1. EACH LOCAL SOCIAL SERVICES DISTRICT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO POST INFORMATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS SECTION, IN A FORM AND MANNER TO BE DETERMINED BY THE COMMISSIONER. SUCH POSTER SHALL BE CONSPICUOUS AND VISIBLE TO ALL APPLICANTS AND/OR RECIPIENTS OF PUBLIC ASSISTANCE WHO ARE APPLYING FOR ASSISTANCE AND BE AT LEAST EIGHT AND ONE-HALF INCHES BY ELEVEN INCHES IN SIZE. SUCH INFORMATION SHALL ALSO BE POSTED ON THE OFFICE OF TEMPORARY AND DISABILITY ASSISTANCE'S WEBSITE. 2. SUCH INFORMATION SHALL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO, INFORMING INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE APPLYING TO RECEIVE ASSISTANCE THAT THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO: (A) A FAIR HEARING; (B) ASK ABOUT EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE; (C) APPLY FOR ALL BENEFITS AND SERVICES; (D) ASK ABOUT CHILD CARE; (E) FREE LANGUAGE SERVICES; (F) SCREENING AND SPECIAL SERVICES IF EXPERIENCING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE; AND (G) A WRITTEN ADEQUATE NOTICE. § 2.
