 AN  ACT  to amend the education law, in relation to transferring credits
   from a CUNY community college to a New York state university
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  Section  6303 of the education law is amended by adding a
 new subdivision 3-a to read as follows:
   3-A. CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK COMMUNITY COLLEGE CURRICULA SHALL  BE
 DESIGNED  TO  ENABLE  STUDENTS  THE ABILITY TO TRANSFER CREDITS FOR SUCH
 CURRICULA TO A STATE UNIVERSITY.  SUCH  TRANSFERABLE  CREDITS  SHALL  BE
 ACCEPTED  BY A STATE UNIVERSITY OR ACCEPTED AS AN EQUIVALENT CREDIT TO A
 COURSE PROVIDED BY SUCH UNIVERSITY.
   § 2. The education law is amended by adding a  new  section  208-b  to
 read as follows:
   §  208-B.  CITY  UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK COMMUNITY COLLEGE CREDENTIALS;
 TRANSFERS. THE STATE UNIVERSITY SHALL COLLABORATE WITH THE CITY  UNIVER-
 SITY  OF  NEW  YORK  TRUSTEES TO ENSURE STUDENTS THE ABILITY TO TRANSFER
 CURRICULA CREDITS FROM A CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK  COMMUNITY  COLLEGE
 TO A STATE UNIVERSITY.  SUCH TRANSFERABLE CREDITS SHALL BE ACCEPTED BY A
 STATE  UNIVERSITY  OR  ACCEPTED  AS  AN  EQUIVALENT  CREDIT  TO A COURSE
 PROVIDED BY SUCH UNIVERSITY.
   § 3. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day  after  it  shall
 have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or
 repeal  of  any  rule  or regulation necessary for the implementation of
 this act on its effective date are authorized to be made  and  completed
 on or before such effective date.
