BILL NUMBER: S1300 SPONSOR: PERSAUD TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend a chapter of the laws of 2020 relating to requiring the department of labor to produce a report regarding summer youth employ- ment programs funded by state, federal and local appropriations, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 1079 and A. 6393, in relation to requiring the office of temporary and disability assistance to produce a report regarding the summer youth employment program and to the effectiveness of the provisions thereof PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of this bill is to amend Chapter 297 of the Laws of 2020 in order to refine the parameters for a report regarding the Summer Youth Employment Program. PERSAUD -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend a chapter of the laws of 2020 relating to requiring the department of labor to produce a report regarding summer youth employ- ment programs funded by state, federal and local appropriations, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 1079 and A. 6393, in relation to requiring the office of temporary and disability assistance to produce a report regarding the summer youth employment program and to the effectiveness of the provisions thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Sections 1 and 2 of a chapter of the laws of 2020 relating to requiring the department of labor to produce a report regarding summer youth employment programs funded by state, federal and local appropriations, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 1079 and A. 6393, are amended to read as follows: Section 1. [Not more than 180 days after the effective date of this act] ON MAY 1, 2022, the [department of labor] OFFICE OF TEMPORARY AND DISABILITY ASSISTANCE, in consultation with the education department, the [office of temporary and disability assistance] DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, the office of children and family services, and any other entity the [department of labor] OFFICE OF TEMPORARY AND DISABILITY ASSISTANCE deems appropriate, shall produce a report regarding THE summer youth employment [programs] PROGRAM funded by state, federal, and local appro- priations. The report shall: a. Determine the total number of jobs available for youth in all pre- existing programs, including the nature of the jobs[, the educational and professional experience under such programs, career paths available for such training, and overall experience by summer youth employment program participants] DURING EACH OF THE YEARS FROM 2016 THROUGH 2021; EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
