 Introduced  by  Sen. ADDABBO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Cities 1
 
 AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the  city  of  New  York,  in
   relation to requiring crossing guards at high schools
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Section 14-118 of the administrative code of  the  city  of
 New  York  is  amended by adding two new subdivisions d and e to read as
 follows:
   D. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL REQUIRE AT LEAST ONE SCHOOL  CROSSING  GUARD
 TO  BE  ON  EACH  AND  EVERY  CORNER OF EVERY CITY BLOCK THAT CONTAINS A
 PUBLIC OR PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL  WITH  STUDENTS  ENROLLED  IN  ANY  GRADES
 BETWEEN  NINE  THROUGH  TWELVE DURING ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL TIMES AS SET
 FORTH BY THE SCHOOL.
   E. ANY STREET WITH FOUR OR MORE TRAFFIC LANES  THAT  BORDERS  A  BLOCK
 WITH  A  PUBLIC  OR  PRIVATE SCHOOL WITH STUDENTS ENROLLED IN ANY GRADES
 BETWEEN NINE THROUGH TWELVE SHALL REQUIRE AT LEAST ONE ADDITIONAL SCHOOL
 CROSSING GUARD TO THE CROSSING GUARD REQUIREMENT SET FORTH  IN  SUBDIVI-
 SION  D  OF THIS SECTION AND SUCH CROSSING GUARDS SHALL BE PLACED ON THE
 OPPOSITE CORNERS OF SUCH STREET RESPECTIVELY.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
