BILL NUMBER: S7799 SPONSOR: COMRIE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend a chapter of the laws of 2021 amending the election law relating to providing an online absentee ballot tracking system, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.6395-A and A.4186-B, in relation to the effectiveness thereof PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to provisions of L.2021, c.727, to create a statewide online absentee ballot tracking system, integrated with local boards, to allow voters to track the process of an absentee ballot application and delivery of the absentee ballot from original request to the vote being cast. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: This legislation amends the underlying chapter by changing the effective date from January 1, 2022 to April 1, 2022.

COMRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend a chapter of the laws of 2021 amending the election law relating to providing an online absentee ballot tracking system, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.6395-A and A.4186-B, in relation to the effectiveness thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 3 of a chapter of the laws of 2021 amending the election law relating to providing an online absentee ballot tracking system, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.6395-A and A.4186-B, is amended to read as follows: § 3. This act shall take effect [January] APRIL 1, 2022. Effective immediately, the state board of elections shall be authorized to promul- gate any rules or regulations required to carry out the provisions of this act prior to such effective date. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD05765-06-2
