BILL NUMBER: S8993 SPONSOR: COMRIE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 483 of the laws of 2017, amending the public authorities law relating to requiring the metropolitan transportation authority to establish an expired fare transfer policy, in relation to extending the effectiveness thereof PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To ensure that riders of the Metropolitan Transit Authority mass-transit system do not forfeit pre-paid funds due to administrative decisions relating to the expiration of said funds after a certain time period. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one of this bill provides that this program shall be deemed repealed on December 31, 2029.

COMRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend chapter 483 of the laws of 2017, amending the public authorities law relating to requiring the metropolitan transportation authority to establish an expired fare transfer policy, in relation to extending the effectiveness thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2 of chapter 483 of the laws of 2017, amending the public authorities law relating to requiring the metropolitan transpor- tation authority to establish an expired fare transfer policy, is amended to read as follows: § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be deemed repealed on December 31, [2022] 2029; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT THE REPEAL OF THIS ACT SHALL NOT IMPAIR OR OTHERWISE AFFECT ANY OF THE OUTSTANDING OBLIGATIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, FUNCTIONS, RIGHTS OR LIABILITIES OF THE CORPORATION, UNLESS ADEQUATE PROVISIONS HAVE BEEN MADE FOR THE PAYMENT OR EXERCISE THEREOF. § 2.
