 AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to requiring the division  of
   state  police to send renewal notices to holders of a license to carry
   or possess a pistol or revolver before expiration of such license

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  Subdivision  10  of  section  400.00  of the penal law is
 amended by adding a new paragraph (e) to read as follows:
   (E) THE DIVISION OF STATE POLICE SHALL KEEP A RECORD OF THE  DATES  OF
 EXPIRATION  FOR  ALL  LICENSES  TO CARRY OR POSSESS A PISTOL OR REVOLVER
 ISSUED UNDER THIS SECTION, AND SHALL SEND A NOTICE TO EACH SUCH  LICENSE
 HOLDER  AT  LEAST  NINETY  DAYS BEFORE THE EXPIRATION OF SUCH LICENSE SO
 THAT SUCH LICENSE HOLDER MAY SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO RENEW SUCH LICENSE
 IN A TIMELY MANNER.
   § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day  after  it  shall
 have become a law.
