 AN  ACT  to  amend  the  executive law, in relation to the education and
   experience of members of the state board of parole
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section  1.  Subdivision  2  of section 259-b of the executive law, as
 amended by section 38-a of subpart A of part C of chapter 62 of the laws
 of 2011, is amended to read as follows:
   2. Each member of the board shall  EITHER  (A)  have  been  awarded  a
 degree  from an accredited four-year college or university or a graduate
 degree from such college or university or accredited graduate school and
 shall have had at least five years of experience in one or more  of  the
 fields  of criminology, administration of criminal justice, law enforce-
 ment, sociology, law, social work, corrections,  psychology,  psychiatry
 or medicine; OR (B) HAVE AT LEAST TEN YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN ONE OR MORE
 OF  THE  FIELDS  OF CRIMINOLOGY, ADMINISTRATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE, LAW
 ENFORCEMENT,  SOCIOLOGY,  LAW,  SOCIAL  WORK,  CORRECTIONS,  PSYCHOLOGY,
 PSYCHIATRY OR MEDICINE.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
