BILL NUMBER: S2199 SPONSOR: OBERACKER TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the tax law, in relation to extending the authorization for Otsego county to impose additional rates of sales and compensating use taxes PURPOSE: To authorize the Otsego County Board of Representatives to impose an additional one percent sales tax for a three year period SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one amends section 1210 of the tax law to extend the authori- zation for Otsego County to impose an additional one percent (1%) sales tax until November 30, 2026. OBERACKER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to extending the authorization for Otsego county to impose additional rates of sales and compensating use taxes THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Clause 34 of subparagraph (i) of the opening paragraph of section 1210 of the tax law, as amended by section 1 of item JJ of subpart C of part XXX of chapter 58 of the laws of 2020, is amended to read as follows: (34) the county of Otsego is hereby further authorized and empowered to adopt and amend local laws, ordinances or resolutions imposing such taxes at a rate which is one percent additional to the three percent rate authorized above in this paragraph for such county for the period beginning December first, two thousand three, and ending November thir- tieth, two thousand [twenty-three] TWENTY-SIX; § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD05976-01-3
