LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ed and Doris Lamon upon the occasion of
receiving the 2009 Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen Award
from the New York State Office for the Aging

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ed
and Doris Lamon upon the occasion of receiving the 2009 Outstanding
Contribution by a Senior Citizen Award from the New York State Office
for the Aging at the Annual Senior Recognition Day to be held on Wednes-
day, May 6, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Ed and Doris Lamon have been called upon to contribute their
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and have
always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Ed and Doris Lamon are both lifetime members of the Kerhonk-
son-Accord First Aid Squad; Ed is also an active member and past Presi-
dent of the Kerhonkson Lions Club, while Doris is an Ellenville Lioness
who once served as Treasurer; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Ed and Doris Lamon have been members of the
Kerhonkson-Accord Chamber of Commerce for over 15 years; they are also
active members of VFW Post 8959; Ed serves as Quartermaster and Doris as
Secretary and Ladies Auxiliary Post's President; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Ed and Doris Lamon travel monthly to Castle
Point, where they run Bingo for disabled veterans; Doris has also headed
the "Meals on Wheels" in her hometown for many years; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Ed and Doris Lamon have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Ed and Doris Lamon have displayed
throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ed and Doris Lamon upon the occasion of receiving the 2009
Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen Award from the New York
State Office for the Aging; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ed and Doris Lamon.
