LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Craig Hammerman upon the occasion of
receiving the Community Service Award from the American Italian Coali-
tion of Organizations

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Craig Hammerman upon the occasion of receiving the Community Service
Award from the American Italian Coalition of Organizations; and
WHEREAS, A third-generation Brooklynite, Craig Hammerman is a product
of public schooling; he graduated from Midwood High School, Rutgers
University and received a Master's degree in Public Administration from
Baruch College; and
WHEREAS, The District Manager for Brooklyn Community Board 6, a grass-
roots agency in New York City government, Craig Hammerman has repres-
ented the neighborhoods of Carroll Gardens/South Brooklyn, Cobble Hill,
Gowanus, Park Slope and Red Hook since 1990; and
WHEREAS, A highly-respected advisor, Craig Hammerman is frequently
sought out by elected officials, government agencies, non-profits and
community groups on high-profile urban policies, projects and issues;
and
WHEREAS, Craig Hammerman is also an active Trustee of the Park Slope
Civic Council, his neighborhood civic organization, as well as the long-
standing President of the Association of Brooklyn District Managers,
where he is often called upon to represent his colleagues on borough-
and citywide issues; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his domestic partner, Elizabeth
McAloon, and son, Jared, both of whom feel privileged to be a part of
his life and rejoice in his many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Craig Hammerman and to wish him
continued success in all of his future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Craig Hammerman upon the occasion of receiving the Community
Service Award from the American Italian Coalition of Organizations; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Craig Hammerman.
