LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Rick Remsnyder upon the occasion of
receiving the 2009 Marketing Leadership Award from the Business Market-
ing Association of the Hudson Valley on June 4, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge those exemplary individuals whose purposeful lives
and distinguished careers have been committed to bettering the quality
of life in this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Rick
Remsnyder upon the occasion of receiving the 2009 Marketing Leadership
Award from the Business Marketing Association of the Hudson Valley at a
special breakfast meeting to be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009; and
WHEREAS, This prestigious award is bestowed upon those dedicated
public servants whose extraordinary efforts have contributed signif-
icantly to the economic growth of the Hudson Valley; and
WHEREAS, For the past three years, Rick Remsnyder has served as the
Ulster County Tourism Director; in this capacity, he works with over 900
tourism businesses in Ulster County and promotes the county in an effort
to attract tourists and businesses to the area; and
WHEREAS, Rick Remsnyder's many responsibilities include coordinating
the construction of a new interactive tourism website, helping to
produce all Ulster County tourism publications and working with the
department's advertising agency, Marketing Works, to market and sell
Ulster County as a tourism destination; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Rick Remsnyder currently serves as Vice Presi-
dent of the Catksill Association for Tourism Services; and
WHEREAS, While under Rick Remsnyder's able leadership, in 2008, Ulster
County received Honorable Mention for Outstanding Travel Guide from the
North American Journalists Travel Association, the first time the County
has been honored for its travel guide by a national association; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary leader, Rick Remsnyder's hard work has helped to
leverage the natural and entrepreneurial resources of the region to
bring people and investment to the area while maintaining the distinc-
tive qualities that make the region so attractive; and
WHEREAS, His vision and dedication have influenced all facets of
marketing which in turn have led to significant growth in the region and
contributed measurably to the quality of life in the community; and
WHEREAS, Prior to his appointment as Ulster County Tourism Director,
Rick Remsnyder worked as the Marketing Director at the Nevele Grande
Resort and Country Club in Ellenville; and
WHEREAS, Rick Remsnyder also worked for 12 years as a sportswriter and
columnist for the JOURNAL NEWS in White Plains, New York, where his
primary responsibilities included covering professional golf as well as
professional and college sports; additionally, he was a sportswriter and
columnist for the DAILY FREEMAN, covering county and city government as
well; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure as a journalist, Rick Remsnyder covered
more than 40 majors, both in the United States and Europe, the Ryder
Cup, and other significant professional events on the PGA Tour, the LPGA
Tour, and the Champions Tour; and
WHEREAS, Rick Remsnyder is an extremely talented writer who has won
numerous journalism awards during his career, including first-place
awards for outstanding reporting from the National Women's Sports Foun-
dation, United Press International, the New York State Associated Press
Association, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, and
the American Heart Association; and

WHEREAS, Rick Remsnyder earned his Bachelor's degree from Drury
College in Springfield, Missouri; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his son, Ted, who feels privi-
leged to be a part of his life and rejoices in achievements; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Rick Remsnyder has continually
demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence and diligent
leadership in his unwavering service to his community and profession;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned recognition and applause; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Rick Remsnyder upon the occasion of receiving the 2009 Marketing
Leadership Award from the Business Marketing Association of the Hudson
Valley on June 4, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rick Remsnyder.
