LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Noah Katz and his family of Freshtown
Supermarkets upon the occasion of receiving the 2009 Business Investment
Award from the Central Catskills Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Noah
Katz and his family of Freshtown Supermarkets upon the occasion of
receiving the 2009 Business Investment Award from the Central Catskills
Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, On January 28, 2009, the Freshtown Supermarket in Margaret-
ville opened, 13 days after PSK Supermarkets took possession of the
former A&P grocery store on Bridge Street; and
WHEREAS, Part of the 60-store Foodtown buying cooperative, the Fresh-
town Supermarket employs about 30 people and is open from 7 a.m. to 9
p.m. weekdays and Saturday, and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday; and
WHEREAS, Owned by PSK Supermarkets, a family-run supermarket company
operated by the Katz family of Mount Vernon, the Freshtown Supermarket
sells local products and local vendors are encouraged to approach the
store about selling their products; and
WHEREAS, PSK Supermarkets is investing more than $3 million into the
Margaretville Freshtown Supermarket, including the cost of purchasing
the property and the renovation and expansion that is planned over the
next nine months; the company also purchased the lot across the street
from the A&P and will be paving it to provide public parking for shop-
pers in the area; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when businesses
of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention,
they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of the
great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Noah Katz and his family of Freshtown Supermarkets upon the occa-
sion of receiving the 2009 Business Investment Award from the Central
Catskills Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Noah Katz and his family of Freshtown Supermarkets.
